Synopsis: Strategy is based on national guidelines and local Joint Strategic Needs Assessments.  A number of recommendations have been made in order to reduce the number of blood borne virus infections in Greater Manchester.

Synopsis: A consultation was undertaken to prioritise the recommendations from the Greater Manchester Blood Borne Virus Prevention Strategy.  The prioritised recommendations were classified according to which commissioner would be involved with each recommendation.

Greater Manchester HCV Strategy 2006

Synopsis: Original Greater Manchester Hepatitis C Strategy based on Health Care Needs Assessment (2006).  The Strategy makes recommendations for improving prevention, awareness, services around testing, treatment services and surveillance.  Funding provided by DPH group to implement the strategy under the governance of the Association of Greater Manchester PCTs in 2007.

Hepatitris C in Greater Manchester Heath Needs Assessment 2006

Synopsis: The Greater Manchester Health Needs Assessment included a review of current service provision, the underlying epidemiology and the associated literature.  The assessment included stakeholder interviews and postal questionnaires with key service providers with views collected from respondents around current and future service provision.
